And to the readers who couldnβt make it yesterday, please know that none of this would be possible without you either. Read on for highlights from the Fox lot.
P.S. On Wednesday, we reported that a YouTube beta feature would be available to all creators, but the feature is only being tested among music creators for now. We updated the story here. Sorry about that.

Dispatches from Press Publish LA: The Hollywood Creator Summit

(Left to right) Emmy award-winning creator journalist Johnny Harris, Beast Industries head of talent Kara McCloud, and Challenge Accepted host Michelle Khare speak on the Main Stage at Press Publish LA / Photography by Jesse Leon
Yesterday, we gathered almost 700 creators, operators, and industry professionals on the Fox lot for our second Press Publish summitβthis time, focused on the convergence of Hollywood and the creator economy.
Creators flew in from Amsterdam, Switzerland, and Hong Kong. The day's surprises included a marching band, a motorcycle stunt man, and an appearance from film and game creator Markiplier. But the best part? The conversations that happened in between. Here are some of the top quotes and learnings from the day β
βI enter YouTube coming from a doubtful place and Iβm addicted to overcoming that doubt,β our surprise guest Markiplier said on the main stage. He shared that his movie Iron Lung made $52M in over 4,200 theaters with a budget of just under $5M. Iron Lung releases on YouTube today.
βI canβt teach someone to care about the work that theyβre doing, but I can teach YouTube,β Beast Industries head of talent Kara McCloud said. As hire #12 on the team (which now has 780+ employees), McCloud saw there was no talent incubator in the creator economy. So she set out to make Beast Industries the starting point for young professionals in the creator worldβand the result was alumni like Anthpo and Ernesto Perez, to name a few.
βYouTube is a volume game,β creator journalist Johnny Harris said on stage (less than 24 hours after winning an Emmy in NY). For years, Harris focused on becoming reliable for his audience, so they would stick around when he pivoted to a project that required more planningβlike his new show The Human Element.Β The difference between a YouTube video and a show, according to Harris?
βI started to put more time in development,β Harris said. βI think this show is a more intentional vision that underpins it.βΒ
βContent needs to be timely or timeless,β TBPN co-founder John Coogan said. On stage, Coogan and co-founder Jordi Hays shared top lessons from turning their niche livestream into a nine-figure exit. They said choosing either end of the content barbell (long-form or daily posting) is the way you can winβbecause if youβre timely but only post once a week, thereβs someone who is publishing once a day and getting better faster.Β
Formatting is world-building. Michelle Khareβs seven marathons series went through several iterations before debuting in three parts. The single 90-minute cut lost the plot lines about her fellow runners (the emotional core of the series), and a seven-part version of the series was too loose. Even within the long-form format, Khare had to experiment to find what worked for the specific story she was telling.Β
But thatβs just a taste: Weβll be back on Monday with even more learnings, including more insight on the future of indie film distribution from Markiplier. Session recaps from our partner, Google Gemini, are coming soon.

Fox Creator Studios Signs Comedy Creator Tom Segura

(Left to right) Comedian Tom Segura, president of YMH Studios Ryan P. Hall, and head of Fox Creator Studios Billy Parks discuss what Hollywood looks for in creators at Press Publish LA / Photography by Jesse Leon
Comedian Tom Segura is the latest creator to sign a multi-project partnership with Fox Creator Studios (FCS), Fox shared exclusively with The Publish Press this week.
Context: Fox Creator Studios launched earlier this year with food creators like Gordon Ramsay and Rosanna Pansino to make original IP. This deal with Segura and his media brand, Your Moms House Studios (YMH), marks the continued shift of legacy media building out creator inroads.
Breaking down the deal details:Β
FCS and YMH will develop, finance, and produce a stand-up comedy showcase with up-and-coming talent, a horror animated series, and live-action comedy.Β
FCS and YMH will split ownership of the productions.Β
Fox will also bring its advertising sales to YMHβs existing podcast network, which has 25+ shows with a collective 2 million followers.
What makes this creator deal different: Fox Creator Studios is less focused on distributionβnot licensing shows or putting them on Fox platforms. Instead, the projects with Segura and YMH will live across YMHβs existing platforms, leaning into its community and scaling direct-to-consumer relationships.
"We're hyper-focused on creators doubling down on channels that work for them," said Billy Parks, Head of FCS, told us in a call previewing the announcement.
For creators watching the Hollywood-digital divide, the deal also signals something about speed. The partnership went from introductory dinners in March to a signed deal within six weeks.
βItβs cool this deal allows us to do different things and actually have them come to life in a timely manner,β Segura told us.
Big picture: With the Segura and YMH partnership, weβre getting a clearer idea of the deals Fox Creator Studios is looking to strike. YMH already generates 500 million annual impressions and has proven fans will pay directly for premium content. Fox's role is to add production muscle and ad backing. Could this signal a shift in how creator x traditional media deals are made?
