Welcome, Wednesday readers. Iâm happy to be in your inbox for a midweek pick-me-up. Speaking ofâPewDiePie just announced that he and his wife Marzia are having a baby. To think weâve watched him go from a teen playing horror games in 2010 to a soon-to-be dad...itâs surreal. How long âtil we see a YouTube nepo baby?

On Monday, the education creator opened enrollment for his eighth Part-Time YouTuber Academy (PTYA) course, which will be the last class he hosts live.
The video Abdaal posted across platforms announcing the final course of its kind inspired fans to move quicklyâAbdaal brought in $200,000 in sales in the first 10 minutes course enrollment was live. By the end of day one, sales had doubled to $400K.
Context: Abdaal has shared that PTYA makes up nearly one-third of his business income. It brought in over $1.7 million in revenue for 2022. The four-week course, which Abdaal has taught live since November 2020, teaches creators how to grow and scale their YouTube channels and starts at $1,495 per student.
Why is PTYA winding down its live component after this run? âBecause the live classes take up so much work and timeâthey are the biggest time drain on me and the rest of the teamâweâve decided to wind down the live component to focus on the other exciting things that are happening in life and the business as well,â Abdaal said in the course announcement video.
Big picture: Revamping PTYA is part of Abdaalâs larger goal to shift his YouTube channel to a âlifestyle business.â Abdaal has been open about his ambition to focus more on work/life balance and less on growth and scale.

2. Only 180,000 people in the U.S. have a Twitter Blue subscription, according to The Information. Thatâs less than 0.2% of the website's monthly active users. FYI, about 62% of Twitterâs paying users reportedly reside in the U.S.

What's the Deal with De-Influencing?
TikTok
Over the last two weeks, the TikTok hashtag #deinfluencing has 5xâd in views to over 114 million.
What is de-influencing? Instead of recommending products to purchase (like the newest Fenty bronzer or Amazon pantry organizer), creators like Basic of Course and Dara Levitan are encouraging viewers to buy less by telling them what they donât need.
We're curiousâwhat do you think of the de-influencing trend? Hit reply and let us know.
