How This NYC Creator Keeps Producing Viral Events 🗽
We talked to Anthony Po's producer, Paige Nguyen
Good morning. Whatever you thought of the W-sprayed, backside-exposed Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul boxing event this weekend, one thing's for sure—people tuned in for it. Here’s the fight, by the numbers:
65 million → peak concurrent viewers
60 million → households streamed globally
100,000+ → streaming quality complaints issued to Netflix
PS–We’re looking for a writer to report and find some of the best creator stories on the internet. Keep scrolling for more info!
How Paige Nguyen Produces Anthony Po’s Viral Events

On Saturday, a couple hundred patrons packed into Church Street Boxing in NYC for a night of musical performances and a boxing match—all hosted by comedy creator Anthony Po, aka Anthpo.
We talked to Po’s producer, Paige Nguyen, about how their small team creates viral events such as the Timothée Chalamet lookalike contest and the Cheeseball Man meetup in NYC →
Reading the room. Nguyen described herself as someone who’s “chronically online.” In October, she observed that negative sentiment from the US presidential election was dominating online culture.
Nguyen and Po wanted to encourage people to have fun and get together in public spaces, so they hung up 100 flyers around NYC advertising the lookalike contest and a $50 reward.
The guerilla marketing resonated, as 10,000 people showed up (including Chalamet himself).
The contest concept has since spread, with similar events taking place around the globe.
Being flexible. Nguyen has learned to bring Po’s attention to detail into event planning while still adjusting on the fly—such as having a backup location ready for the lookalike contest when police officers kicked them out of Washington Square Park.
“What people don’t see is just how much pre-production goes into events like these, but we like it that way,” Nguyen told us. “Anthony’s main goal is to foster community and make sure everyone is having a good time.”
Collaboration is king. Ahead of the boxing match, Nguyen helped curate a tight run-of-show that featured performances from fan favorite local superheros (including the Pickled Man and Sickly Sweet) to a rising underground rapper named Khantrast.
Those guests helped increase the event’s awareness by collectively sharing content out to their local audiences.
“There are so many moving parts that make up a successful event, and as the producer, you have to know what’s going on with each part at all times…[and] make sure everyone on set knows, too,” Nguyen said.
Why Amazon is Investing in the Creator Economy
Spotter and Amazon join forces / Illustration by Moy Zhong
Amazon just made a big move in the creator economy by investing in Spotter. The two companies are teaming up to open new opportunities for Spotter’s creators within the streaming and ecommerce giant.
Our own Samir Chaudry sat down with Spotter CEO Aaron DeBevoise to hear about what the partnership means for creators →
New opportunities across video and commerce. “This partnership could redefine content distribution, allowing creators to develop series for Prime Video, tap into new audiences, and integrate product lines within Amazon's retail framework,” DeBevoise said.
Educate Amazon on creator video. “It’s a no-brainer for Amazon to want to be involved in the creator ecosystem that exists today, but the question that is so daunting to even them is, ‘Where do you start?’” DeBevoise said. Spotter is utilizing data to help the platform make informed decisions on which creators to work with.
Big picture: Amazon made its first multi-million dollar creator investment with MrBeast’s Beast Games earlier this year, a deal which Spotter was intimately involved in.
As Amazon folds its ad-supported streaming service Freevee into Prime Video, this Spotter partnership could provide a blueprint for how streamers engage with creators in the future, utilizing platforms as a guide to navigate the creator economy.
