YouTube Rolls Out Multi-Language Dubbing

Nick DiGiovanni (left) tries street food around the world, which viewers can choose to watch dubbed in 15 other languages (right) /Β Nick DiGiovanni
Today, YouTubeβs multi-language audio feature is officially available to all creators with access to advanced features. Now, any creator with advanced features can upload multiple audio tracks to a video, potentially expanding their reach to a wider global audience.Β
How it started: YouTube launched multi-language audio as a pilot program two years ago, with MrBeast, Mark Rober, and Nick DiGiovanni among the first creators to test it out.
On average, English-speaking creators using the feature started getting north of 25% of their watch time from non-English-speakers.
Creators can upload as many audio tracks as they wantβRober often tops 30 languages available on his videos.
βIt was the most seamless way to reach more people without affecting anyone that was already there,β DiGiovanni told YouTube.
Zoom out: Kevin Allocca, YouTubeβs Global Director of Culture and Trends, shared at Press Publish NYC last week that 52% of US users between ages 14β24 have watched content that has been translated from another language. Six of the top 10 YouTube channels post videos primarily in English. With only 20% of the world actually speaking English, creators who use multi-language audio can potentially 5x their reach across YouTubeβs global audience.

Claire Parker (left) and Ashley Hamilton (right) rebrand their podcast to "Good Noticings" /Β Good Noticings
After five years of making their show, Celebrity Memoir Book Club, podcasters Claire Parker and Ashley Hamilton are rebranding with a pop culture podcast called Good Noticings.
Closing one chapter: For the past 230+ episodes, Hamilton and Parker read and discussed celebrity memoirs, covering best-selling authors like Jennette McCurdy to deep cuts like reality star Mike βThe Situationβ Sorrentino. Breaking down their business β
Their live tour has sold out venues worldwide, and their Patreon has over 13K members.
In 2024, Hamilton and Parker joined Vox Media to get support with ad sales.Β
Since the acquisition, theyβve doubled their podcast advertising revenue with partnerships that feel more representative of their overall brand.
βOur audience trusts us so much,β Parker told us. βWhy not take advantage of the things we naturally have an affinity forβthe things that are naturally dovetailing with what we're talking aboutβand sell them to [our] very specific audience.β
Opening another chapter: The new show will feature recommendations and discussion of pop culture, fiction, music, movies, and TVβplus the occasional celebrity memoir. Their inspiration for the rebrand to Good Noticings came from positive reception of their more casual and general Patreon bonus episodes.
βI really think that if you liked our takes on celebrity memoirs, you're gonna like our takes on long-form articles and contemporary discussions,β Parker said. βIt'll still be very book-based and research-based, [...] which I think people appreciate from us, but it's still the same perspective.β

Ex-CEO of 100 Thieves Opens Up About His Departure

Nadeshot addresses 100 Thieves layoffs and gambling-sponsored streams on Monday /Β Nadeshot
On Monday, Nadeshotβfounder and former CEO of gaming lifestyle brand 100 Thievesβoffered his audience more context behind his withdrawal from the company amidst recent layoffs. Hereβs the rundown:
In 2024, Nadeshot stepped down as CEO of 100 Thieves to focus on making content full-time.Β
100 Thieves unexpectedly laid off 12 employees late last week, around the same time Nadeshot did a livestream sponsored by a gambling company. Nadeshot received backlash for promoting gambling to minors.
Nadeshot added that 0.02% of his YouTube audience is underage. (Worth noting: BBC has reported that one in three kids lie about their age online.)
Nadeshot addressed the controversies on a stream Monday, sharing that he only attends four 100 Thieves board meetings per year and has no role beyond that.Β
Big picture: This round of layoffs at 100 Thieves marks another blow to esports companies. FaZe Clan, Talon Esports, and ONE Esports are among the many gaming companies that have faced financial troubles or layoffs over the last two years.
